Recent years, the government publicly announced that Cambodia would gain around 1,700 million dollars three times of international aid per year. Due to the report by the Radio Free Asia this morning, many Cambodians do not hope that the gains from the oil resources would benefit people if the government is still corrupt. It is according to the well management of oil resources under an effective law which Cambodia itself could not make the law and need assistance from outside experts. While the people have concerns on this issue, the government and others are thinking of how to effectively and efficiently manage the resources and make Cambodia benefit and become a rich country. Thus at this moment it is not clear whether the oil resource is the blaming or the wishing.
People should think of how to make the oil as the wishing and should not try to blame. Blaming means discouragement and wishing means encouragement. Encouragement fosters the willingness of those who take responsibilities of oil resource management.
At this moment, it should be that people wish for good management and use of oil resources of Cambodia and then there should be a well study and strategic plan for proper management of this resource.

It is blaming or discouraging. It’s only history that they go by; in reason history has not been kind to the Cambodian people and a lot of it you can blame the Cold War. This is not has anything to do with Cambodia people. It is the war between supper powers. However, the revenue from the oil and gas industries more than enough to feed the people and live the good life. But, it can only support the way of lives that is tradition life of Khmer. If you adapt the Western way of life that consume everything on earth, then you has a problem. The government can only do so much and the people also need to do the part. I am speaking from the heart as Khmer myself, some how some way the people of Cambodia as a nation will do the right thing.
